From Worrying To Positivity
Navigating Daily Concerns
“Is the company going to be downsizing soon?” “Am I going to be written up because of how I answered back?” “I am not making enough money, and I cannot tell my manager I want to readjust my salary.” These thoughts, filled with negativity, often consume our minds with worry and they start to move us away from what Jesus is calling us to be.
Consequences of Worry
Worrying is an inevitable part of life. However, we must not let these self-imposed stories dictate our capabilities. Allowing worries to dominate our lives can have various detrimental effects, such as lack of sleep, eating disorders, and a diminished ability to focus. The most alarming consequence is succumbing to the belief that this anxious state is the new normal.
Overcoming Worries: A Practical Approach
How can we overcome these worries? One valuable piece of advice I’ve received is to list concerns from major to minor. Once the list is complete, tackle the most significant worry first and identify one actionable step to alleviate it. Recognizing that there is something within our control to mitigate each worry can be incredibly empowering.
Finding Balance: A Gift from Worry
Worry is like the rain – a little can be good; too much is destructive. Like a gentle rain, worry can be a gift from God, letting us know life is out of balance and needs fixing.

Reflecting on my feelings, guided by resources like “Worry Therapy,” and considering the perspective that maybe Jesus is trying to get my attention has been instrumental in understanding that these concerns might be a call for attention or action. Seeking the perspective of a friend or advisor can provide clarity and help discern whether action is needed. It’s essential to acknowledge that, often, worries are products of our imagination, magnifying problems beyond their actual magnitude.
Crafting a Plan for Positive Change
Now that you have a clearer understanding of your worries, what’s your plan? This is the exciting transition from dwelling on negative thoughts to embracing positive thoughts of victory. This transition knowing that you have the ability to change your worries into a source of strength is something to be excited about. Trusting in your capabilities, and recognizing that life can be enjoyable with Jesus guiding us, are key steps forward. I firmly believe that, in doing so, we align ourselves with following His will.
Facing Doubts and Cultivating Support
As you embark on addressing your worries, be prepared for doubts to surface. The journey towards positive change is not without challenges. Lean on your friends or advisors to validate and refine your plans. While not everything is easy, cultivating a strong support system is akin to having angels in your life, propelling you forward. Remember, every positive action you take is a step toward a brighter, more fulfilling future, with Jesus as your steadfast guide.
