The Power Of Temptations

Jesus uses all opportunities, even if they come in the form of temptations, to help us grow in our careers. The potential that each of us has is truly enormous, and Jesus utilizes everything around us to aid our growth and success. Let’s take a closer look.

Opportunities Are Everywhere

In child speech development, when children face difficulties, speech therapists employ various tactics to assist them. However, one particularly effective tool stands out among them all: temptation. Yes, it may sound surprising, but to encourage a child to speak, parents are advised to introduce temptations into their home environment. This involves placing toys in transparent containers, where children can see them but require assistance to play with them. While it might seem unfair to the child, this method proves invaluable when a child is struggling to communicate and has the potential not only to catch up with their peers but even surpass them. This environment encourages the child to make more of an effort to “ask” for what it wants, namely the temptation. The power of temptation becomes the ultimate motivator, propelling the child’s rapid development. As child therapists state, the results are remarkable when utilizing the entire home as an opportunity for speech development.

Jesus Creates Opportunities In Our Environment

The use of temptation or opportunities as catalysts for growth in our careers finds biblical support in Jesus’ interactions with God’s children. Let’s examine an example:

In the Gospels, we read about a man who had been suffering from a debilitating illness for many years. He had heard about Jesus’ miraculous healings and desperately desired to be made whole. The man’s condition limited his ability to walk, confining him to a mat. However, he believed that if he could only reach Jesus, he would find healing.

One day, Jesus was teaching in a crowded house, and the news of His presence spread throughout the region. The man, driven by his desire to be healed, was determined to get to Jesus. However, due to the massive crowd, he faced numerous obstacles and could not find a way through.

Undeterred, the man’s friends devised a plan. They carried him to the roof of the house where Jesus was teaching, and with great effort, they made a hole in the roof. Lowering the man down on his mat, right in front of Jesus, they presented him to the One who could change his life.

When Jesus saw their faith and the persistence of the man and his friends, He was moved with compassion. Addressing the paralyzed man, Jesus said, “Your sins are forgiven.” Then, knowing that the religious leaders present doubted His authority to forgive sins, Jesus added, “So that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” He turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Get up, take your mat, and go home.”

Instantly, the man was healed. He rose to his feet, picked up his mat, and walked out in the sight of everyone, glorifying God. Through their determination, faith, and the use of unconventional methods, the man’s friends created a situation where he had no choice but to cry out for healing. Jesus used their actions and the man’s desperate desire to restore not only his physical health but also his spiritual well-being.
